Hiking:
Tony Knowles
Coastal Trail
On summer evenings this favorite recreational trail is dotted with bikers,
strollers, in line skaters, runners and dog walkers. In winter, cross country
skiers take over. Anchorage's most popular bike trail features 11 paved miles
along the city's scenic coastline from downtown to Kincaid Park. The closest
access from Americas Best Inn Anchorage Eagles Nest is at Lynn
Ary Park, just 1 ½ miles from the hotel.
Kincaid
Park
43 miles of paved and unpaved trails throughout 1400 acres of wooded forest
overlooking Cook Inlet. This beautiful park is located just 5 miles from Americas
Best Inn Anchorage Eagles Nest.
Flattop
Mountain
This is one of Anchorage's most popular day hikes and is within 20 minutes
of Downtown Anchorage. This 3510 ft mountain holds excitement for both beginner
and expert hikers not to mention breathtaking views.
McHugh
Creek
A 15-20 minute drive outside Anchorage, or about 30 minutes from downtown.
It has a fantastic picnic area, a waterfall, great hiking trails and a spectacular
view of the Inlet. Because of past bear problems, it is not recommended that
hikers stray too far from the picnic area unless in a group of six or more
(there are no known grizzly attacks on groups this size). This area was expanded
and totally recreated during the Summer of 1998. Gorgeous.
No admission fee. Take your own lunch.
Alaska
Native Heritage Center
8800 Heritage Center Drive | 907.330.8000

Alaska

4731 O'Malley Road | 907.346.2133
The zoo is home to many cold-climate Alaskan animals. See 4 kinds of bears,
tigers, muskox, camels, wolverines, seals, otters, moose, caribou and more.
Located 8 miles from the Americas Best Inn Anchorage Eagles Nest.
Lake
Hood
One block west of the Best Inn & Suites.
Enjoy the world's largest floatplane airport. Offers access to fantastic fishing,
hunting and flightseeing adventures throughout the state.
